All bedrooms are furnished with desk space. We also invite International and U. S. students to stay for a semester.

A light breakfast will be provided daily. The main floor bedroom has access to kitchen, laundry and family room areas. Downstairs, you can relax in your own private retreat should you choose. The garden studio has double sofa beds, couch, tv, mini-bar, fridge, Keurig and bathroom. Students from around the world have stayed and shared experiences with us we hope you can too. This is a five bedroom home with plenty of room to relax, socialize and even enjoy the outdoors.
Since you’re thinking about staying with me, let me introduce myself! My name is Dee and I’ve been living in the Chicago Area all my life. And I live quite a happy life. Here’s a bit more about me. --My Hobbies-- I love the outdoors and I love to exercise. So daily you’ll find me riding the beautiful bike path near my house all over the area. I am a teacher and educator. I founded my tutoring center - A Plus Master Tutoring Center-located in Oak Park 8 years ago. I am a certified homestay provider for Kaplan and Solex language schools located in Chicago. I love hosting, gardening, cycling and nature. I love to read and write. I also love to paint, sculpt, and I enjoy rehab and improving my structures. Our homestay is a short 10 minute walk (past the police station and library) to the forest park blue line station- which runs 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This is a fantastic upscale area that is close to everything!! One block from downtown Forest Park with many restaurants and shops. Just 5 blocks from the supermarket. 3/4 mile to downtown Oak Park and River Forest. I have always loved animals and really enjoy people of all ages. Sincerely, I do hosting because it enriches my life. When people come together from all over the US and the world, long lasting friendships form. Also Chicago is one of the most beautiful American cities, and I love showing people things about this city and it’s surrounding suburbs that they would not otherwise see. And because of this I really do my best to create a fun, and warm environment for every student that stays. My property has a large brick building and a small Coachhouse it's one parcel with two structures. The entire parcel is enclosed by a 6 foot fence for privacy and security --My Work-- Simply stated, I am an entrepreneur, and have been for 20+ years. During that time I have started and ran 4 businesses, including my current one, A+ master tutoring center. I am also an educator. I became interested in education over 7 years ago and became a teacher in American public schools until I decided to start my tutoring center. And I do love running my tutoring center because I have been able to help countless children learn essential skills that prepare them to take charge of their lives when they leave school.
Our home is in a really nice subdivision about 30 miles southwest of Chicago with easy access by train into the downtown Chicago area. We have raised 4 rock star children in this 4 bedroom colonial home and would like to open the house to girls who are exchange students in an area university or college. The house is in a subdivision that has a walking/running trail, volleyball playing public area, nice single family homes, and very friendly neighbors. We have a large newly renovated kitchen that represents the heart of the home. The kitchen opens into a very comfortable den area with a big screen television over the fireplace. We also have a lovely pond and big back yard with deck and patio that can be used for outside relaxation and cook outs.
My home is an unusual, single story commercial space located in the Harrison Street Arts District of Oak Park. (The Village of Oak Park was once home to Ernest Hemingway and Frank Lloyd Wright.) I live in the building and have a spare bedroom that I would like to rent to a student. The shared loft space has 12' ceilings with a northern exposure. The space is quiet and conducive to study. Included is a backyard garden with a terrace. One cat and one small dog are in residence. My home is accommodating and comfortable. It’s only 1/2 block to the CTA Blue Line entrance at Lombard Ave. (fifteen minutes to the Chicago Loop), and steps away from a coffee shop, a yoga studio, and other interesting businesses. I am a retired special education teacher. I taught most subjects, but specifically english, social studies and art/history. My undergraduate degree is a BFA in design and art history from the University of Illinois at Chicago, my MS in special education, and my teaching certificate, were from Dominican University (my mother’s alma mater). I come from a large family, I have numerous nieces and nephews, and most of my siblings still live the area. This affords the opportunity for us to get together on a regular basis, and my Homestay guest would be welcome to spend time with my friends and family. If my guest and I have similar interests, they could also accompany me to the cultural events and exhibits which I frequently attend. Some of my other interests include movies, music, gardening, and time spent outside in the parks, or at the lakefront, with my dog.
